Library Week Activities

The Library Week, which starts on the last Monday of March every year, was celebrated with many activities at Tarsus SEV. Posters were prepared, slogans were written, our volunteering teachers read stories during the lunch break, remarks were given and activities were organized.

MUSTAFA GÜZELGÖZ: A BEACON LIGHT IN EDUCATION

During the Library Week, Tarsus SEV Middle School students met with Mustafa Güzelgöz, a.k.a "Librarian with Donkey", an important name in the Turkish library history. Our students, who heard from Güzelgöz about his pastoral life with the depictions of his donkey, wooden suitcase, and the women of their village found out about the ideals, goals and objectives of a true educator. We hereby salute Mustafa Güzelgöz, a modern librarian, who reached the villages of Ürgüp, which do not have a proper road, after loading the books on his donkey and introduced Balzac to the villagers, reaching his target audience by considering their needs, way of life and habits.
