Tarsus SEV Middle School started the first Science – Math Festival in Turkey which took place on 23rd-24th May, 2016. The festival was combined of entertaining activities which were prepared by Science and Math departments.
The festival began with 6th grade debate and was followed by different station activities. These selectively prepared activities gave students the opportunity to learn while enjoying themselves.
Below are some examples of the interesting activities.
Fun Run Activity: The students were asked to complete a 50m track, later they calculated their average speed. At the end the fastest group of each class was identified.
Math Games Station: Math games were combined of 11 fun Math activities. The main aim was to teach Math while having fun. The 3-D printer was also included in this station.
5th grade started the day with a balanced diet, they also used the food pyramid for various activities.
Orienteering activities were done on both days with all classes. Our students also showed great interest to Instant Challenge which was another activity using creativity to reach the target.
The festival was completed with an entertaining competition. This competition consisted of videos and experiments. We would like to thank our teachers and students who have made great effort. We are honored to announce that this splendid activity will also take place next year.
