"Turkish is the flag of my voice"
Fazıl Hüsnü Dağlarca

When you learn a language, you also learn about the history, culture, mindsets and even geography and climates of the land which gave birth to that language. The more comprehensively children learn about the mother tongue, the better they understand their own history, arts and culture. Developing an understanding of one's society makes it easier to live together and to contribute to it.

The mother tongue education, which starts when we were all babies, is limited to Turkish spoken at home and in a close parental circle. It is through schooling that the child learns about the correct use of language as well as rules of spelling and reading.  The Turkish they use in written and verbal expression improves in quality as they continue to build on these basic literacy skills.
