The Turkish curriculum, as stipulated by the Ministry of Education, incorporates the use of various instructional methodologies in accordance with the nature of the topic. The emphasis is on building student self-expression skills by using rich vocabulary and linguistic register, making sentences which follow Turkish grammar rules, developing the habit of reading as a tool of expressing their thoughts independently and uniquely. The interdisciplinary links are also given importance which is reflected on the selection of books which can be covered in other classes as well. 

The classroom activities include reading, grammar and written expression practice, individual and group activities.
