“To be the master of knowledge, one has to be a servant to work
Honore de Balsac (French novelist)
The discussion about “quality control” in the business world in the last 20 years has been reflected with establishment of institutions which define and inspect educational institutions against international standards. The Council of International Schools (CIS) is an internationally recognized organization which certifies elementary schools and high schools that provide education at a prescribed quality. CIS evaluates member schools against worldwide quality criteria and awards schools that meet the criteria with an "accreditation” certificate.
An accreditation certificate means long hours of labor-intensive work for schools. In order for the “accreditation” of its operations by this international organization, Tarsus SEV Schools applied in 2004 to the Council of International Schools and received accreditation in 2007. CIS, through its regular visits after granting accreditation to schools, re-evaluates the compliance of the school to the standards it establishes.
What are the aims of the CIS Accreditation?
-
It ensures that the school maintains a high quality education program at all levels.
-
It guarantees a high-quality education program through clearly defined objectives and standards.
-
It ensures that the school is aware of its strengths and weaknesses, and requires schools to work on any shortcomings through a cycle of continuous improvement.
-
It enables schools to compare themselves globally with similar schools around the world.
-
In accordance with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the Council of International Schools Child Protection standards, the SEV Foundation is committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of students in all SEV schools through the establishment and implementation of a comprehensive Child Protection Policy. Our Child Protection Policy applies to all SEV community as well as stakeholders including third-party contractors.
