Community service has a huge place in our school mission and it has always been a top priority for us to teach our students to be sensitive to the environment they live, from the very early ages. 2nd grade students of Tarsus SEV performed an amazing activity within the sense of community service with the motto “Strength of Unity”. Under the objective of “Being sensitive to people who need help in the immediate surrounding”, from the life science lesson, students picked the Kulak Village Primary School as their sister school under the guidance of their teachers and discussed what they could do to support them. Our students made jams with the support of our school cook in the school cafeteria in relation to the book they read called “Jam Poems”. Later, they sold this jam and bought sports equipment for their friends at the sister school.
On 16th of January, Wednesday, we hosted the students and teachers of Kulak Village Primary School in our school. Our guest students first participated in the fun activities organized for themselves. Later, they sang songs with our 2nd grade students, played games, had a very pleasant day and they shared a lot.
At the end of the day, 2nd grade students presented their sports equipment to their friends. In addition, they collected the books they had read and gave them as gifts. They have also shared their toys and presented the cards they had prepared for them.
With this wonderful project, our students once again realized how important it is to help their friends who are not as fortunate as themselves and they acted sensitively.
