Tarsus SEV Advocates for the Proper Use of Turkish Language
Tarsus SEV Middle School organized an awareness raising project promoting the proper use of Turkish origin words, instead of the popularized borrowed words.
The students created products for display which stressed the importance of the proper use of Turkish words and "cleaning" the Turkish language of foreign words. Wearing the t-shirts which they have designed, a group of students from grade 7 attended the morning ceremony on Monday, and informed the Tarsus SEV student body about the aim of the campaign. With the pamphlets and tags they have distributed to their friends, gave important messages by large placards and visuals they posted around the school which showed the correct use of some misused words. This sensitivity about the Turkish language in this student-led activity made us all very proud.
Let's Talk Turkish, not Turklish!
"Hoşça Kal", not "Bye Bye"
"Tamam" for "OK"
"Özçekim", not "Selfıe"
"Teşekkürler" for "Mercy"
