We visited some excavation sites with the ‘archeology club’. We became acquainted with the archelogists there. We also invited them to our school in order to learn what exactly what an archeologist does. The archelogist, Mr Doğukan Bekir Alper, visited our school. 

He told us about the names that Tarsus has been recognized under so far, the civilizations that had lived in Tarsus, the importance of Tarsus’s geographical location and it’s historical places and accompanying arts. He also told us about some important information pertaining to evidence and artifacts coming from the excavations. The more we listened and learned, the more our curiosity peaked. We are looking forward to attending the excavations that will take place in Gözlükule this summer.
